Salzburg Fortress Railway...

Austria's oldest funicular railway runs every ten minutes to the Hohensalzburg Fortress and has been in operation since 1892.

1.7 million passengers a year enjoy the ride on the fortress railway and look through the large panoramic window at the city of Salzburg during the 54-second journey. In those days the FestungsBahn was still operated by water power, but today it is a modern railway system offering the best in comfort and safety.
