Salzburg Museum New Residence...

Experience Salzburg's art and cultural history up close and enjoy special views of Salzburg's unique cultural landscape in the centre of the old town.

The Neue Residenz is one of nine exhibition rooms belonging to the Salzburg Museum. The art and cultural history of the city and province of Salzburg is presented on an exhibition area of around 3000 m².

Special exhibitions with a Salzburg connection

The changing special exhibitions always offer new perspectives on the art and cultural history of Salzburg and, thanks to international cooperation, enable visitors to look beyond their own backyard. The Salzburg Museum is currently celebrating 100 years of the Salzburg Festival with a national exhibition. The premiere of Hugo von Hofmannsthal's "Jedermann" on 22 August 1920 in the Cathedral Square is considered the founding date of the Salzburg Festival. Entitled "The Greatest Theatre in the World - 100 Years of the Salzburg Festival", the exhibition gives an overview of the history of the Festival and traces its development up to the present day.
