Austria's oldest funicular railway runs every ten minutes to the Hohensalzburg Fortress and has been in operation since 1892.
1.7 million passengers a year enjoy the ride on the fortress railway and look through the large panoramic window at the city of Salzburg during the 54-second journey. In those days the FestungsBahn was still operated by water power, but today it is a modern railway system offering the best in comfort and safety.

On Monday the weather will once again be bright and warm. Foehn winds are responsible for these summer temperatures. As the clouds remain stuck on the south side of the Alps, the north side will see a windy but mostly bright and sunny day!
